I'm Asia, like the continent!

 I started Asia May Photography 10 years ago in my hometown,  Detroit. I loved doing photoshoots with my friends- capturing their joy and essence. Photography has always been a love of mine. I started to take senior photos for my friends, because a lot of us couldn't afford to take photos and I knew how important it was to capture such a special moment in time. 

I'd share these photos (in the early Facebook days) and soon, a lot of people began to ask how much I'd charge to take their Senior Pictures- Soon after, a door was opened.

I found my love for photography at an early age- when all I'd ever ask my parents for were cameras. Visual by nature,  I see in pictures. Flashes of ideas that can only be brought to life by a lens.

Imagery has always been a way for me to explore my imaginative inner world, bringing my subconscious thoughts into the concrete world. Being able to capture a moment through my lens has always been one of my favorite outlets.

It has always been important to me to provide shoots for people who wouldn't typically be able to pay hundreds of dollars to express themselves through a picture. Everyone- no matter how much money you have, should be able to enjoy the feeling that comes with sharing beautiful family photos, or empowering yourself through a creative photo shoot. 

As an artist of many talents, I've found that photography is a culmination of all of the arts that I appreciate and love, such as music, theatre, and visual arts. My style is a beautiful blend of breath, light, nature and love and I'm grateful to be able to share my gift with the wonderful people that I am lucky enough to cross paths with.
